{"id":213,"date":"2014-05-12T02:19:11","date_gmt":"2014-05-12T02:19:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jamesrose.net\/scope\/?p=213"},"modified":"2014-05-12T02:19:11","modified_gmt":"2014-05-12T02:19:11","slug":"our-executive-meetings-are-held-quarterly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.winchesterscope.org\/?p=213","title":{"rendered":"Our Executive Meetings are held quarterly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our next in June, AGM September 20<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0 then December 2014.<\/p>\n<p>This year our AGM will be later in the year &#8211; on Saturday 20<sup>th<\/sup> September2014\u00a0 from 2 .00 to 4.00pm.\u00a0 Our speaker will be from <strong>\u201cKids\u201d<\/strong> telling us about the <strong>\u201cFace to Face\u201d<\/strong> <strong>Befriending Service <\/strong>which they have been developing in partnership with national Scope.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cFace to Face\u201d<\/strong> is a support service for families who have recently discovered their child has a disability, their child is in the early stages of diagnosis or in a particularly challenging transitional\u00a0 phase or time of their disabled child\u2019s life.\u00a0 It provides a network of trained volunteers who are able to provide parents or primary carers emotional support, advice and signposting to relevant services.<\/p>\n<p>Every <strong>Face to Face befriender <\/strong>is a parent too; \u00a0someone whose own child has a disability.\u00a0\u00a0 They know what it\u2019s like to cope with a new diagnosis and can offer support \u2013 parent to parent.\u00a0 Face to Face is free and confidential.<\/p>\n<p>It was officially launched in Winchester in March 2014 when befrienders were presented with certificates for having trained and met the standard set by Scope.\u00a0\u00a0 It currently operates in\u00a0\u00a0 Basingstoke, New Forest, Fareham, Gosport and Havant and the hope is that in time it will spread to the Winchester City Council area. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0For more information go to their website: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.face2facenetwork.org.uk\" target=\"_blank\">www.face2facenetwork.org.uk<\/a> or ring 01329 242954.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our next in June, AGM September 20th\u00a0 then December 2014.
