AGM Report-back 2016
Race Runners – a future paralympic sport?
We were delighted that thanks to Physiotherapist Clair Padgham and her talk about her hopes and plans for Race Runners at our AGM, we attracted more parents and families this year.
After the first bout of tea and cakes her video showed just how disabled children were enjoying being able to chase around on these peddle-less trikes. Meeting in various venues children can build up their stamina, experience movement and enjoy the thrill of competing with each other.
Thanks to Friends of Osborne School and the generosity of the University of Winchester the group has had 2 successful taster days. It is the aim to buy 6 bikes so that the group can meet regularly: a wish W&D Scope supports. Hot off the press is that they have bought their first bike.
We were therefore very pleased that Clair agreed to join our Executive Committee together with other newcomers, Jan Spring and Charlene Cooper, while Mary Townend will replace our Hon.Treasurer Charlie Smallman. Our chairman Gill Young and all the other Executives were returned.
Our Treasurer reported it had been a successful year with a greater number of grants made for equipment and therapies for people with cerebral palsy. A vote thanks was made to her for standing in as Hon. Secretary for the past year.
Once again, St Barnabas Church Hall proved to be an excellent venue.
Shirley Kenneally, Hon. Treasurer
