Taking a holiday

July 31, 2017 - Comments Off on Taking a holiday

Holidays we believe are especially important to people who live independently alone, struggling with every-day things.   This especially when the loss of appropriate care means  lack of advisory support.   Known to us for years, we were sorry to hear that her plans last year fell through because of this and  have contributed to the cost of a holiday at a Revitalise Holiday Centre at Southport.  .

July 31, 2017 - Comments Off on Celebration of 60th birthday-trip to London

Someone we have known for many years wanted to organise a trip to London with his daugher to celebrate his 60th birthday. As B&B at hotels in the West End would be out of the question, cost wise, we were able to put our heads together and make a few suggestions.    He did a lot of searching on his computer which he shared with us. The end result is, he will be off  by train to connect with Dial-a-Ride and with the aid of a scooter he hopes to achieve his dream. Showing such tenacity we were happy to […]

This is always an important item in any home and more so when there is a child with a disability.     So it was, having enquired about help for an aid which the school had after all provided, we learned of the problem the mother was having with her well worn washing machine. Respite Break

November 24, 2016 - Comments Off on Respite Break

We have become increasingly aware of problems encountered by adults trying to find carers. With their PiP budgets in principle they merely have to find those carers willing to meet their needs: not an easy task. They are thin on the ground and not always willing, leaving individuals unable to care for themselves. However, for this to succeed, good care needs to be provided to enable people to be safe in their own homes. Unfortunately with cuts W&D Scope has been involved in helping […]

Though parents are taught how to provide physio at home they find it needs to be supplemented by private physiotherapy which is very expensive. As one mother said “after the […]
