Go to Seat

June 7, 2018 - Comments Off on Go to Seat

The parents of this little girl, who was already known to us, contacted us as she had outgrown her Go 2 Seat which had become uncomfortable.   Because it attaches to ordinary chairs  it enables the little lass to sit at table with everyone else rather than stay in her wheelchair.    We welcomed this request and issued a grant to meet the cost of a larger model.

Mobility Support Harness to dog

April 10, 2018 - Comments Off on Mobility Support Harness to dog

We were pleased to welcome another family unknown to us.  Their request too was a first for us:  a Mobility Support Harness. Recommended by her Physiotherapist and supported by her Vet, this harness would help her to walk with the aid of her beloved dog.  After verifying that the harness should work well for her and the dog is a large dog with a gentle temperament, we approved a grant. We look forward to seeing how well she is getting on with it.

Pleased to hear from a family new to us, we were able to assist with a grant towards a power aided wheelchair that would enable this young lady to become more independent . This was especially important as she was looking forward to starting at a local 6th form college and being able to get there unaided.    We later learned how beneficial it had been in gaining access to her own home.

This little girl, having had successful SDR treatment in the past, needed the additional specialist Physiotherapy over and above that provided by the NHS and her parents.    She had progressed well and we were able to approve a grant towards this cost to enable her to continue to improve.  As always, we had ensured the therapist they would be using was highly regarded.

Corrective Surgery

December 5, 2017 - Comments Off on Corrective Surgery

We learned that this little girl, who we had assisted in the past, was in need of  corrective surgery on various limbs.  Her parents wished to send her to the US where she had previously been treated rather than the UK where they were only prepared to deal  with one limb at a time and parents felt this would also prolong her anxiety.    After discussing with parents we agreed to support this application.

Conductive Care

We always welcome hearing about children unknown to us. This time we received a referral about twin girls with cerebral palsy to assist with the cost of receiving Conductive Care from a practitioner who comes to the children’s homes. The parents said how much they had already benefitted from this and wanted to continue to help them prior to starting school this year.    We have met the cost of weekly sessions leading up to them going to school.

Taking a holiday

July 31, 2017 - Comments Off on Taking a holiday

Holidays we believe are especially important to people who live independently alone, struggling with every-day things.   This especially when the loss of appropriate care means  lack of advisory support.   Known to us for years, we were sorry to hear that her plans last year fell through because of this and  have contributed to the cost of a holiday at a Revitalise Holiday Centre at Southport.  .
